Some news to share with you all.
My husband
:icondruknirishboy:
is seriously considering enlisting in the Army
We have been studying into it, asking every question we can think of,
more or less to ready ourselves for the stressful road that is paving itself in front of us.

There are a number of reason's why he is considering it...
Benefits galore, college degree...paid for, base housing or housing allowance,
and chance at retirement in twenty years.
We have always wanted to travel, and that too will open up for us.
Yes, there are more things that could hinder us, and the threat of injury is large in this
war we're battling,
but he is more than prepared to fight for me and our country as a job.
Our opinions on the war are our own, and no pun intended on any part.
The way we look at it, is that it is a government employed job that we will have agreements with and also disagreements.

I hope that you all keep us in your thoughts,
as we have been stressed and maxed out to our extreme's getting through these trials.

And if any of you have any thoughts, concerns, or just advice...
please do not hesitate to offer it up.
We appreciate any encouragement.

SO...for the week's features, I could only see fit to show you pictures of the United States Army.

Be Strong
:salute: We depend on you. :salute:

Thank you for including my photo in this journal. I am a huge supporter or the Military men and women who give their lives and time on this earth to helping others. I have family and friends who are over seas right now and I cannot be more thankful that people so close to me understand the importance of being in the Military.

If your husband decides to join, please let me know and I will dedicate a journal to him! I know people join the military everyday, but it's not every day that people close to them make a DA journal including a picture of mine. ;p

Thank you again, in more ways than one!

Thank you for using my photo in this...

As for your husband enlisting... it is hard on a marriage. He'll be away from home a lot for training and the inevitable deployment that will follow. He'll undergo both physical and psychological changes... and while it doesn't always affect everyone the same way, it does always affect everyone.

Really give it a lot of thought... and do not let the recruiter be your only source of information... they lie... a lot. (The Army was supposed to pay for my student loans... yet, here I am paying them all off on my own after 10 years of service...)

Best of luck in your decision.

-Ben

Thanks for the info!
We have been talking to people that have been in service as well as the recruiter.
The recruiter that we went to talk to wasn't really that friendly,
and didn't really seem as if he cared if he joined.
It has been a week since we have been there, and no one has called.
Which seems a little weird to us, but I guess they're all different.
We got a name to someone that his step dad knows
(He was in the army also)
and we're probably going to talk to him before we go back to the other recruiter.

How is deployment? Do you go a lot, or what?
When you are there, how long do you usually stay?
Is it hard to get a place to live on base?
Is it nearly impossible to chose where you want to go?
Do you have any other information on it that you would offer?

Thanks so much!

Thanks for the plug.
As for enlisting, I have to say it was he best choice I ever made and that I'm glad it's over. There is a lot to love about being in the Army if you know how to take advantage of it. On the other hand is the inevitable stress and frustration that comes from being in the service.
I see it's a decision you guys aren't making lightly, a good first step. I wish you luck and, if he goes with it, the support of this veteran.

 Most definitely not a light or easy decision. I wish the both of you luck in whichever path you choose to take. Know that if he does decide to join he will always be supported by many different people, and if he does not the same will happen.
